Over a span of three days, model railroaders from around the country gathered in Hartford, CT for the annual National Train Show. The Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club’s HO scale layout was invited to display.
The show, which is held in conjunction each year with the NMRA National Convention, drew modular layouts from all over the Northeastern US and even one all the way from Georgia. The show was held at the Connecticut Convention Center located in downtown Hartford, CT. This years show featured over 21 layouts and displays. These ranged from Z scale to O scale and featured mostly scenes from the northeast. Over 15,000 people attended the three day show held from July 10-12, 2009.
“The show was an overwhelming success for the club,” said Dan DeLany, President of the Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club. He continued, “I am very pleased, impressed, and proud of the work by our members over the last four years as they prepared for this event. I was excited to see the positive reaction to all of this work and we hope it will continue the trend within the club of building a world class modular model railroad display.”
The layout consisted of 38 module sections in a L-configuration, filling in a 46’ x 54’ area. Setup of the layout began on Wednesday July 8th and took about 6 hours.
The club would like to thank everyone at the National Train Show for making this such a wonderful event.
