| Progress to HO Layout and New Scale Highlight Mohegan Pequot Display | ||||||
|
Every winter, the Big Railroad Hobby Show presented by the Amherst Railway Society at the Big E in West Springfield, MA, is the Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad clubs biggest display of the year. This year will be no exception. As has been the case for the last several years, the club will bring its HO, N, On30, and G scale layouts, during the weekend of January 26 and 27. This year, the club will add a fifth modular layout, a S-scale layout. Visitors to the show will continue to see the progress on our large HO scale layout as work has continued with massive renovations that began in the summer of 2006. "2007 has been quite a productive year for the club. The new modules introduced at last year's show are all progressing nicely, and I cant wait to see the layout all set up at the Big Railroad Hobby Show, said Dan DeLany, President of the Mohegan Pequot Model Railroad Club. He continued, I am very pleased, impressed, and proud of the work by our members over the last two years and am excited to see the benefits of the new module work sessions at this years show. This year is the culmination of the last 3-4 years of work with the layout becoming progressively better, and this year will be no different..

Last year, 8 new module sets consisting of 30 module sections made their debut at the show. These modules have seen a lot of activity and will look substantially more complete than just one short year ago. This years layout will be in a U-configuration and feature 55 module sections in total, filling in a 42 x 72 area (Click here for a pdf of the proposed HO layout). A club information table will also be set up in front of the HO layout which will include pictures, information sheets, and a TV with a slideshow about the club. This year will also feature the debut of the club's newest layout, a portable S-scale layout. This layout has been constructed by club member and avid S-scaler Dave Alley. "Dave has put a lot of effort into bringing a new scale to the club. His layout, while still under construction, shows the wide range of talents and interests within the club," said Dan Delany. For more on the S-scale layout, click here. In addition to the HO and S scale layouts, the club will also set up a 36x54 G scale layout, an 8 x 24 On30 layout, and an 18 x 24 N scale layout. All of these layouts will be located in the Young Building of the Big E complex in West Springfield, MA. Stop by and check out all of our progress. We hope to see you in West Springfield on January 26 and 27.-Jim Spavins For more information on the Big Railroad Hobby Show, visit the Amherst Railway Society at: http://www.railroadhobbyshow.com/
