Commuter Station BranchTRAK Track Plan

Railroad Station

One of the ways to add visual interest to a train station scene is to add some elevation.  In the case of the design of the Commuter station to the right, Railroad Avenue is set below the elevation of the mainline.  The driveway and parking lot are sloped up to the location of the train station.

MOW Yard BranchTRAK Track Plan

MOW Base

A maintenance-of-way (MOW) yard provides maintenance-of-way crews a base of operations where the can store their materials and equipment in between work assignments.  In this yard are two tracks for equipment, a driveway entrance for trucks, and space for various materials like spare rail, ties, spikes, etc.  This design also includes some vertical elements with an overpass over the end of the yard.

BT Interlocking BranchTRAK Track Plan

BT Interlocking

An interchange track provides a nice operational element for the layout as almost any type of car can be spotted on the track.  This design has an at grade crossing - set at a 30 degree angle to break up the parallel lines of the module benchwork.
