The newest edition of the G scale layout was built over the last five years or so in partnership with the Central Connecticut G Gauger Modular Club. Most of the folks who build and maintain the layout are members of both clubs and have worked together to build a G scale modular layout approximately 32′ x 78′ featuring detailed scenes and scratchbuilt structures. With three mainlines, there is always lots of activity on the layout. The layout is displayed at a number of shows each year including the Amherst Railroad Hobby Show in West Springfield, MA, as well as the the East Coast large Scale show in York, PA presented by Aristocraft Trains.
The first G scale layout was initially constructed int he late 1980s and early 1990s. It was much smaller in size and did not have any scenery. Many improvements were made including folding legs and new track over the years but most of the initial modules were retired by 2006. A few survived and have been transformed into a new yard module complex on the current layout.
