The club has always had a small group of modelers who have an interest in narrow gauge railroads. In the 1980s, club member Ted Bossert built an On3 switching layout. In the early 2000s, a number of members became interested in the growing On30 segment of the hobby. On30 are O scale models which run on the same size track as HO scale. At the time, Bachman began to introduce a line of models which brought more interest to this size and gauge model railroads. A group of club members built a small dog bone shaped layout with a loop of track and began to build a highly detailed layout. The layout was built higher than most of the other modular groups in the club which allowed viewers an eye level view of the railroad.
