Sherman’s Creek

Conrail over Sherman's Creek

Module Overview

Just north of Marysville, PA – home of the famed Rockville Bridge – sits a smaller stone arch bridge over Sherman’s Creek. This small 2′ x 4′ module depicts a model similar to the Sherman’s Creek bridge and the surronding area. The module includes two small mini-scenes featuring a railfan park complete with a caboose gift shop and a canoe rental store. In addition, this is the only module in the club which has concrete tie track on the mainlines.

Module Construction

The benchwork for the module was constructed from a 1/2″ birch plywood frame with 1/4″ luan plywood used to support the river and mainline track.  Cork subroadbed was used along with Peco Code 100 concrete tie flextrack for the mainline trackage.

There are only three structures on the modules.  The railfan park gift shop was made from a MDC caboose found in the scrap box.  Jim’s Canoe Shack was made from the Life-Like General Store kit with a new roof and details added to change the look of the kit.  The focal point of the modules – the stone arch bridge – was made from a cast resin kit.  The kit is available here from The Rockville Bridge>> .
